We are a new unit in the Midwest Brigade that is made up of players who have been playing for years. We wanted to create a dedicated dismounted skirmisher unit and chose the 8th Illinois.
THE HISTORY OF THE 8TH Illinois CAVALRY
The 8th Illinois fired the first shot at Gettysburg, fought with the Army of the Potomac in most major battles, and helped capture John Wilkes Booth. Lincoln called us "Farnsworth's Abolitionist Regiment" upon review at the White House. The unit plays a prominent role in the movie Gettysburg when Buford's cavalry are defending the ridge.
